A one-year-old girl died at Mutjwarantja village in the Kavango East Region on Sunday after she fell into a bucket of water and drowned.
The Namibian Police Force’s Crime Investigations Coordinator for the Kavango East Region, Deputy Commissioner Bonifatius Kanyetu told Nampa on Monday that the incident happened between 15h00 and 16h00 on Sunday.
It is alleged that the mother left the child in the care of the father who had allegedly fallen asleep when the incident happened.
The baby has been identified as Victoria Nambundu and her next of kin have been informed of her death.
