Windhoek:A recent golf day organized by Bank Windhoek successfully raised over N$100,000 through a sponsored auction, aimed at supporting cancer awareness and patient care programmes in Namibia.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the event took place at the Windhoek Golf Club and featured corporate teams, golf enthusiasts, and partners under the theme 'Together We Echo Hope, Swing Against Cancer.' The funds raised will benefit the Bank Windhoek Cancer Apple Project and the Cancer Association of Namibia's initiatives, including cancer awareness, outreach and screening programmes, patient assistance, and palliative care services.

The top three winning teams were Kerizma Investments, Malligan Masters, and Stroke of Credit, securing first, second, and third places respectively. Leon Koch, Bank Windhoek's Executive Officer of Retail Banking Services, emphasized the significance of collective efforts in supporting those affected by cancer. He highlighted the importance of partnership, generosity, and a shared purpose in extending awareness, care, and hope across Namibia.

Koch also noted that the Bank Windhoek Cancer Apple Project achieved a record fundraising total of N$4 million in 2026, contributing N$42.4 million to the Cancer Association of Namibia since 2000. He stated that every sponsored item, bid, and participating team symbolized solidarity and support.

The event included a dinner, prize-giving ceremony, and auction, with various businesses and organizations contributing sponsorships and auction items.
