Bank Windhoek Sees Significant Growth in Mobile App Users

Windhoek:Bank Windhoek has reported a substantial increase of over 900% in active mobile app users since the platform's inception in 2021, indicating a rising trend in the adoption of digital banking services.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the bank disclosed that this growth trend persisted through the 2025-2026 financial year, with active mobile app users rising from 24% in FY25 to 28% in FY26. The mobile app has become a central digital channel for the bank, representing a significant portion of its digitally active clients, which constitute 44% of the total client base.

In FY26, Bank Windhoek noted that 72% of statement requests were conducted via digital channels, an increase from 48% in FY25. Similarly, digital requests for bank confirmation letters grew from 48% to 54%.

The bank also recorded a 35% increase in transactions performed through in-branch self-service banking devices. Additionally, cash-accepting ATMs handled 64% of all cash deposits, a rise from 54% in FY25.

Ryan Geyser, Bank Windhoek's Executive Officer of Digital, Data and Customer Transformation, remarked that these results demonstrate customers' preference for digital banking due to its convenience, security, and control. He emphasized the bank's commitment to integrating innovation with personal support to offer customers more choices in banking.

The bank also observed that business customers are increasingly utilizing digital platforms, with a 263% increase in monthly transactions on its iBank and mobile app for business over seven months beginning March 2026.

By the end of FY26, Bank Windhoek's network included 93 cash-accepting ATMs and 50 self-service banking devices. Between 2024 and 2026, the bank expanded its reach by introducing 50 cash-accepting ATMs and 37 self-service banking devices, enhancing access to convenient banking services.
