Rio de Janeiro: Argentine forward Joaquin Correa has joined Botafogo on a free transfer after parting ways with Inter Milan, the Brazilian Serie A club said on Tuesday. The 30-year-old agreed to a deal that runs until December 2027 and will be available for the FIFA Club World Cup, starting this weekend in the United States, Botafogo said in a statement.
According to Namibia Press Agency, Correa, who has 20 Argentina caps, made 99 appearances for Inter Milan and scored 12 goals after joining the club from Lazio. His experience and skills are expected to bolster Botafogo's attacking options, enhancing their prospects in both domestic and international competitions.
Botafogo will begin its Club World Cup campaign against Seattle Sounders on Sunday, and will also face Paris Saint-Germain and Atletico Madrid in the group stage. The team is hopeful that Correa's presence will make a significant impact as they compete against some of the world's top football clubs.
