Sao Paulo:Brazilian federal police executed searches in Sao Paulo and near Brasilia as part of an investigation into a suspected plot targeting U.S. diplomatic facilities in Brazil.

According to Namibia Press Agency, these searches focused on two suspects and received authorization from a lower-court judge in the Federal District. Police seized computers and cellphones for forensic examination but have not found evidence supporting the reported risks or any links between the suspects and criminal organizations.

The searches were described by police as a preventive measure in a confidential investigation conducted with the cooperation of foreign intelligence agencies. The operation followed an announcement by the United States that it would suspend consular services at its embassy in Brasilia and consulates across Brazil due to unspecified security concerns.

Additionally, Australia's embassy in Brasilia also closed on Friday, citing security concerns in line with the U.S. announcement.
