Windhoek: Bush Bucks Football Club (FC) head coach, Budstyn Mutau, says they are ready for the new challenge in the Northeast First Division.According to Namibia Press Agency, as part of their pre-season preparations, the 2025/2026 Namport Zambezi Regional Second Division League champions invited Debmarine Namibia Premiership outfit, Eeshoke Chula Chula, for a friendly match at the Katima Mulilo Sports Complex on Saturday. Mutau expressed confidence in his team, noting that the players have been training diligently and that facing a club from the elite Namibia Premier League will be a valuable experience.Mutau called on local supporters to attend the match in large numbers. He emphasized that the encounter with Chula Chula FC, a prominent club, is not merely for entertainment but will be a competitive match. Additionally, Chula Chula will play against Oryza Sativa and Black Hawks, using the opportunity to scout for local talent.Oryza Sativa, who finished second to Bush Bucks in the Namport Zambezi Regi onal Second Division, and Black Hawks, a club competing in the Northeast First Division, are part of the friendly matches lineup. Bush Bucks' initial league victory did not secure automatic promotion to the first division, as the club had to compete in the Northeast First Division promotional playoffs against four other regional champions.In the playoffs, Bush Bucks faced champions from Kavango East, Kavango West, Oshikoto, and Ohangwena. They emerged victorious by winning three matches and drawing one, securing their promotion alongside Rundu Rangers FC, who took the second spot.The promotion of Bush Bucks to the Northeast First Division has left the Namport Zambezi Second Division League with three available positions, as regulations require the relegation of the two lowest-placed clubs. Consequently, Real Cheetahs FC and Green Eagles FC were relegated to the third division, making way for successful third-division clubs to ascend to the second division.During the trophy handover ceremony in May, Ngwa ma Vuyalo, Chairperson of the Zambezi Regional Football Association, encouraged more local clubs to join the third division. He highlighted the importance of football as a unifying force and a means for youth development and community building.
