Windhoek: Cabinet has approved several bilateral agreements with South Africa and the Republic of Congo, while also endorsing measures to boost Namibian representation at the SADC Secretariat and authorising the tabling of multiple annual reports in the National Assembly.According to Namibia Press Agency, Deputy Minister of Information and Communication Technology Wenzel Kavaka announced the decisions in Windhoek during a government information sharing session. The Cabinet, during its 22nd and 23rd meetings held on 14 and 21 July, discussed matters ranging from international cooperation to public sector governance and climate preparedness.Among the key decisions, it approved a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Namibia and the Republic of Congo on cooperation in information and communication technologies. It also supported agreements with South Africa on social development, gender equality and women's empowerment, legal cooperation, and bilateral air services.Cabinet directed the Office of the Pr ime Minister and relevant ministries to intensify efforts to publicise vacancies at the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Secretariat to increase Namibian representation. "Cabinet endorsed that the circulation of advertisements of vacancies at the SADC Secretariat should also include academic institutions of higher learning such as the University of Namibia, Namibia University of Science and Technology, International University of Management, research institutions and other relevant think tank organisations, in order to attract qualified Namibian applicants," Kavaka stated.Regarding international affairs, the deputy minister highlighted that Cabinet noted the outcomes of the High-Level Consultative Conference in Accra, Ghana, which focused on the legacy of trafficking and enslavement of Africans. "Cabinet also authorised the Ministry of International Relations and Trade to share excerpts of the report with the Ministry of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sports, Arts and Culture and institutions of higher learning," he stated.Additionally, Cabinet approved the official tabling of several key public sector annual reports from Namibia Post Limited (NamPost), the National Art Gallery of Namibia, the Namibian Police Force, and the Universal Service Fund in the National Assembly.
