Menongue – The governor of Cuando Cubango province, José Martins, said Wednesday in this city that the Border Management Committee (CGF) will maximise and collect revenues for the state coffers, taking into account the borders with Namibia (South) and Zambia (East).

The governor said this during the swearing in ceremony of the members of the commission, an organ created under Presidential Decree 234/20 of 16 September, under the coordination of the Finance Ministry, whose appointment was made recently, in Luanda, the country’s capital.

Its mission is to strengthen control measures along the border perimeters at a national level, in line with the best international practices of facilitating illicit trade.

Ten members took office, namely the coordinator of the provincial technical unit of the Border Management Committee, Hélio André Nzagi, vice-coordinator, Laureano Dias dos Santos, the coordinator of the technical subunit of Katuitui (Cuangar/Namibia border post), João Nafinda, among other members.

According to the governor, the committee will also facilitate cooperation between institutions that operate at the border, reducing bureaucracy and the costs of trade between the populations of the neighbouring Republics of Zambia and Namibia, in order to strengthen the already existing good relations.
