Manila: A Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson on Friday urged the Philippine side to take concrete measures to ensure the safety, dignity, and legal rights of Chinese students in the Philippines. This call for action comes as concerns grow over the security situation affecting Chinese nationals studying in the country.

According to Namibia Press Agency, China's Ministry of Education has released an overseas study alert, advising students to carefully assess the security risks associated with studying in the Philippines. The alert emphasizes the importance of increasing awareness and taking necessary precautions due to the current climate.

Spokesperson Lin Jian highlighted that the public security situation in the Philippines has been deteriorating, with an alarming rise in crimes and harassment specifically targeting Chinese citizens. Lin stated that the alert issued by the Chinese government is both a responsible and reasonable action aimed at safeguarding the safety and rights of Chinese students.

"We once again remind individuals going to study in the Philippines to conduct a risk assessment," Lin added, emphasizing the need for vigilance among Chinese nationals considering education opportunities in the Philippines.
