Zhengzhou: China on Monday called on the United States to stop politically motivated and discriminatory law enforcement against Chinese students and scholars in the United States. Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun made the remarks at a regular news briefing after another Chinese scholar had been unreasonably detained by U.S. law enforcement authorities.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the spokesperson emphasized the need for the United States to respect the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese nationals. The call comes amid growing concerns over what China perceives as unjust treatment and increased scrutiny of its students and academics abroad.
Guo Jiakun highlighted the importance of educational and cultural exchanges between the two nations, stressing that these interactions should not be politicized or disrupted by unfounded allegations. The spokesperson urged U.S. authorities to create a fair, just, and non-discriminatory environment for Chinese scholars and students to ensure the healthy development of bilateral relations.
