Zhuhai: The road cycling competition at China's 15th National Games commenced Friday in Zhuhai, Guangdong Province, with a pivotal cross-boundary race planned for Saturday.
According to Namibia Press Agency, Shandong's Miao Chengshuo and Hainan's Zhang Hao claimed victories in the men's and women's individual trials, respectively, on Friday. Miao completed the 38.7-kilometer race in 46 minutes 17.32 seconds, surpassing Tianjin's Xue Ming by over 10 seconds. His teammate Cao Houwang secured third place with a time of 46:35.43.
The men's road race, considered a highlight of the 15th National Games, is scheduled for Saturday. Cyclists will navigate a 231.8-kilometer course that includes six crossings of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge. This race uniquely connects the three host regions-Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao-in a single competition. Miao expressed a sense of pride in participating in a race that traverses into Hong Kong and Macao.
Zhang triumphed in the women's 30.1-kilometer race, finishing in 39 minutes 2.87 seconds. She was followed by Jiangsu's Wei Suwan and Henan's Chen Si.
