Beijing: Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Sunday exchanged congratulatory messages with Somali Foreign Minister Abdisalam Abdi Ali (Dhaay) on the 65th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries. In his message, Wang, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, emphasized the strengthening of political mutual trust between China and Somalia in recent years. He highlighted the support the countries have provided each other on issues concerning their core interests and major concerns, as well as the steady advancement of cooperation in various fields.
According to Namibia Press Agency, Wang expressed his readiness to collaborate with the Somali foreign minister to implement the outcomes of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation Beijing Summit. He aims to promote greater development of China-Somalia relations and enhance cooperation across numerous areas.
The Somali foreign minister affirmed his country's commitment to the one-China principle and expressed willingness to deepen bilateral cooperation. This collaboration is envisioned within the framework of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation and the Belt and Road Initiative, aiming to bring benefits to the peoples of both nations.
