Beijing: Chinese stocks closed higher on Friday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index rising slightly by 0.01 percent to 3,510.18 points. The Shenzhen Component Index demonstrated a more substantial increase, closing 0.61 percent higher at 10,696.1 points.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the combined turnover of the Shanghai Composite Index and Shenzhen Component Index reached 1.71 trillion yuan, approximately 239 billion U.S. dollars. This figure marked an increase from the 1.49 trillion yuan turnover recorded during the previous trading day.
Securities firms and stocks related to the internet finance and non-ferrous metal sectors were the primary contributors to the market gains. Conversely, stocks in the banking and gaming sectors experienced declines, leading the losses for the day.
The ChiNext Index, which tracks China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, saw a gain of 0.8 percent, closing at 2,207.1 points.
