Beijing: Chinese stocks closed lower on Friday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.33 percent to 3,593.66 points. The Shenzhen Component Index also saw a decline, closing 0.22 percent lower at 11,168.14 points.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the combined turnover of these two indices was nearly 1.79 trillion yuan (about 250.63 billion U.S. dollars), which is a decrease from 1.84 trillion yuan observed in the previous trading day. Stocks related to semiconductor and medical instruments were among the few sectors that gained, while those associated with cement and liquor experienced significant losses.
The ChiNext Index, which tracks China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, decreased by 0.23 percent, closing at 2,340.06 points.
