Beijing: Chinese stocks closed mixed on Wednesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index edging up 0.01 percent to settle at 3,582.3 points. In contrast, the Shenzhen Component Index experienced a decline, closing 0.37 percent lower at 11,059.04 points.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the combined turnover of the Shanghai and Shenzhen indices amounted to over 1.86 trillion yuan, approximately 260.45 billion U.S. dollars. This represents a slight decrease from the previous trading day's turnover of 1.89 trillion yuan. In terms of sector performance, stocks related to aesthetic medicine, new medicine, and insurance led the gains for the day. Conversely, stocks within the cement, building materials, and power grid sectors faced significant losses.
Meanwhile, the ChiNext Index, which tracks China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, experienced a minor decline, losing 0.01 percent to close at 2,310.67 points on Wednesday.
