Beijing: Chinese stocks closed lower on Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.19 percent to 3,366.16 points. The Shenzhen Component Index also saw a decline, closing 0.17 percent lower at 10,825.7 points.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the combined turnover of these two indices stood at about 1.51 trillion yuan (roughly 210.5 billion U.S. dollars), marking a decrease from 1.82 trillion yuan on the previous trading day. Stocks related to lab-grown diamond and medical businesses led the gains, while those in the enterprise resource planning sector suffered significant losses.
Additionally, the ChiNext Index, which tracks China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, lost 0.25 percent, closing at 2,199.88 points.
