Chinese Stock Markets See Gains as Shanghai and Shenzhen Indices Rise

Beijing: Chinese stocks closed higher on Thursday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index rising by 0.65 percent to reach 3,605.73 points. The positive performance was mirrored by the Shenzhen Component Index, which closed with a 1.21 percent increase, settling at 11,193.06 points.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the combined turnover of the Shanghai and Shenzhen indices was over 1.84 trillion yuan, approximately 257.76 billion U.S. dollars, which marked a slight decrease from the 1.86 trillion yuan recorded during the previous trading session. Stocks associated with the Hainan Free Trade Port, rare-earth permanent magnets, and lithium minerals were among the top performers, while those linked to precious metals and banks faced significant declines.

The ChiNext Index, which tracks China's Nasdaq-style board for growth enterprises, also experienced an increase, gaining 1.5 percent to close at 2,345.37 points on Thursday.
