Cote d’Ivoire Triumphs Over Gabon to Secure AFCON 2025 Last 16 Spot

Abidjan: Cote d'Ivoire defeated Gabon 3-2 on Wednesday in the final group match at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), advancing to the last 16.

According to Namibia Press Agency, Guelor Kanga opened the scoring for Gabon 11 minutes into the match and Denis Bouanga doubled the lead 10 minutes later. Jean-Philippe Krasso pulled one back for Cote d'Ivoire just before halftime, sending the ball into the net.

In the second half, Cote d'Ivoire increased the pressure and eventually broke down the Gabonese defense. Evann Guessand scored the equalizer in the 84th minute, before Bazoumana Toure, following a high press, netted the winning goal in the 91st minute.

Cote d'Ivoire secured a place in the round of 16 with seven points from two wins and a draw in the group stage. Cote d'Ivoire will face Burkina Faso on Tuesday.
