COVID-19: Namibia records 45 new cases, two deaths

Health and Social Services Minister, Dr Kalumbi Shangula has announced that Namibia recorded 45 new COVID-19 cases on Friday.

 

Giving the COVID-19 update on Saturday, Shangula said Namibia also recorded two new COVID-19 deaths in the Windhoek district.

 

By Friday, the number of confirmed cases in the country stood at 127 227, while 3 492 people have succumbed to the virus.

 

The Hardap Region recorded the highest number of new positive cases at 11, followed by Oshikoto with nine cases, Ohangwena with six cases, Khomas and Omusati recorded five cases each, Oshana three, Erongo two cases while Kavango East, Kunene ||Kharas and Otjozondjupa each recorded one case.

 

The health minister noted that the new confirmed cases include 12 learners, one teacher and two healthcare workers.

 

Of the confirmed cases, two are reported to have received both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.

 

Active cases on Friday stood at 1 033, of which 85 were hospitalised, with 16 in intensive care units.

 

Furthermore, 115 new recoveries were announced, bringing the total number of recoveries in the country to 122 690.
