COVID-19: Namibia records four new cases and one death

Minister of Health and Social Services, Dr Kalumbi Shangula, announced that Namibia on Wednesday recorded four new Coronavirus (COVID-19) cases and one death, bringing the total number of deaths in the country to 3 558.

In an update issued on Thursday, Shangula said the new cases represented a 0.6 per cent positivity ratio, with a gender distribution of three males and one female between the ages of 24 and 43 years.

The Erongo Region recorded two cases, while Khomas and Hardap recorded one case each, and among the confirmed cases one person had received two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.

The death was recorded in the Opuwo District. The man, aged between 40 and 49, died at home on 26 October 2021 and was not vaccinated.

Namibia on Wednesday had 459 active cases, of which seven were hospitalised.

A total 206 new recoveries were also announced, bringing the total number of recoveries in the country to 124 938.

A cumulative 334 998 people had received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine by Wednesday, of which 57 921 had received the single dose Janssen & Johnson vaccine, meaning 210 620 people had been fully vaccinated.
