COVID-19: Namibia records four new cases

Minister of Health and Social Services, Dr Kalumbi Shangula has announced that Namibia on Tuesday recorded four new COVID-19 cases.

No deaths were recorded.

In an update Wednesday, Shangula said the new cases formed part of 1 697 samples and represented a 0.2 per cent positivity ratio, with a gender distribution of three males and one female between the ages of 22 and 36 years.

The ||Kharas Region recorded two cases, while Oshikoto and Kunene recorded one case each.

Among the confirmed cases were one student and one teacher and none of the cases were vaccinated.

Namibia on Tuesday had 163 active cases, of which 10 people were hospitalised. None of the hospitalised cases were vaccinated.

A total of 22 people were also announced to have recovered, bringing the total number of recoveries in the country to 125 287.

A cumulative 341 216 people had received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine by Tuesday, of which 62 082 had received the single dose Janssen & Johnson vaccine. A total of 214 530 people had received two doses.

Total deaths remain at 3 565.
