The Central Procurement Board of Namibia’s Head of Administration, Amon Ngavetene, yesterday said the awarding of medical supply tenders which made headlines this week is incomplete and will be revised.

This follows a public outcry sparked by reports in local media that the CPBN has awarded three tenders at N.dollars 650 million to businessman Shapwa Kanyama’s company Amnics Trading for the supply of clinical products to the Ministry of Health and Social Services.

Ngavetene at a media conference on Friday explained that the Notice for Selection of Procurement Award is not final and may change upon the reconsideration of any issues that may be raised by bidders during the standstill period.

He said the board made quantity errors in their bidding document and the revision of errors would decrease the suspected amounts.

“The rectification of these errors may result in the reduction of the currently recommended amounts from hundreds of millions to tens of millions,” Ngavetene said.
