Windhoek: Foreign diplomats and representatives of international organisations are ready to align their cooperation, advocacy, and investments with Namibia's national priorities, Dean of the Diplomatic Corps and Ambassador of the Republic of Congo, Lauria Ngayino Nguele-Makouelet, stated on Tuesday. Nguele-Makouelet made the remarks during the traditional New Year's greetings to President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah at State House, where she reaffirmed the international community's commitment to supporting Namibia's development agenda through strengthened collaboration and the practical implementation of agreed programmes.
According to Namibia Press Agency, Nguele-Makouelet emphasized the readiness of the diplomatic corps to support Namibia by aligning cooperation and investments with the country's priorities. She highlighted the commitment to fostering social cohesion, expanding opportunities, and protecting vulnerable populations, while also focusing on inclusive growth and resilience. She pointed out the importance of sustained collaboration between the government and the international community in achieving measurable outcomes and shared prosperity in the face of a rapidly changing global context.
President Nandi-Ndaitwah and her spouse, Ndenga Ndaitwah, hosted ambassadors, high commissioners, and representatives from international organisations and honorary consuls at the annual New Year's greeting ceremony. Under Nandi-Ndaitwah's leadership, Namibian diplomacy has both consolidated its achievements and diversified international partnerships. Nguele-Makouelet praised Namibia for being a reference point in gender equality on the continent, noting the significant roles occupied by Namibian women in decision-making processes.
The diplomatic corps also expressed support for the establishment of presidential task forces emerging from the Namibia Public-Private Forum (NamPPF). Nguele-Makouelet acknowledged NamPPF as a crucial platform for aligning public and private efforts with the priorities of NDP6. She conveyed the diplomatic community's strong interest in not only supporting policy directions but also partnering with the government on implementation initiatives.
