Windhoek: The team manager of Otjinene's All-Star, Bricks Kahuure, has said his team's victory in the Honourable Vezemba Rodman Katjaimo All-Stars tournament is a result of early preparation. The team won both the football and netball competitions of the competition held at the Bobby Sissing Stadium in Windhoek on Sunday.According to Namibia Press Agency, the football team defeated its Omaheke counterpart, Aminuis, 2-1 in the semifinals and went on to win the tournament after stunning Ruacana 3-1, courtesy of Alphons Mbetjiha, Tenee Kangootui, and Tjarirove Uremena. The netball team beat Ruacana in the semifinal before crushing Otjombinde All-Stars 25-19 in the final to be crowned champions.Speaking to Nampa on Monday, Kahuure said the team's impressive performance was due to early preparations and prioritizing the training schedule ahead of the tournament. "Our success in this tournament was due to our early commitment and preparing players mentally through camping. We worked on discipline and on our tac tics," he said. He further emphasized that the team is trying to hold the constituency's name high despite challenges of acquiring training facilities and transport costs, as the team does not have a sponsor.The netball team, in addition to a trophy, pocketed N$7 000 with 12 gold medals, while the football team took home a cash amount of N$18 000, a trophy, and 20 gold medals. Meanwhile, Desiree Nyembo, the netball team manager, said she is happy about the team's triumph and complimented players on their achievement. "This is a great feeling for all of us, and this victory goes to all the supporters who are rallying behind us all the way," she said. Nyembo added that the team's advantage lies in the fitness of the players as most of them play in lower leagues and school teams.
