Oshakati: Eeshoke Chula Chula coach, John Sikerete, has emphasized the necessity for his team to avoid slip-ups as they vie for the league title this season. To achieve this, Sikerete insists that the team must play selflessly, maintain focus, and exhibit resilience.

According to Namibia Press Agency, Chula Chula is set to play at home at the Independence Stadium in Oshakati this weekend, aiming to recover from a series of disappointing performances on their home ground during the first half of the league campaign. Sikerete highlighted the importance of changing their approach to capitalize on home advantage while acknowledging the competitiveness of the league.

“We are ready as usual. We are trying to change our approach to make sure that we perform well and win crucial points, especially at home. We did well in away games compared to when we are playing at home,” Sikerete stated, ahead of their encounters against the highly motivated Mighty Gunners on Saturday and Okahandja United on Sunday.

The club is facing strong competition from the top six teams, all of whom are within striking distance of the title. Sikerete stressed the importance of consistent victories to maintain their standing and prevent falling behind their rivals. “This season is very competitive. We have to take it game by game as enough points will push us forward. All teams have difficult games; it will be very hectic,” he noted, emphasizing that the team cannot afford to drop points.

Chula Chula needs to secure victories in both weekend fixtures to close the gap with Mighty Gunners, who are in fourth place with 37 points, just three points behind current league leaders, African Stars. However, Chula Chula will face the weekend matches without star players Kennedy Eib and Lawrence Doeseb, both of whom received red cards last weekend during their 1-0 victory over Tiger FC in Windhoek.

Despite the absence of these key players, Sikerete expressed confidence that the void will be filled by newly signed players from Young African, including versatile defender Petrus Kamati.
