A 44 - year - old woman died on Thursday at Mutjiku village in the Kavango East Region after she was allegedly attacked and trampled on by elephants . The incident happened at around 21h00 , the Namibian Police Force regional crime investigations coordinator Deputy Commissioner Bonifatius Kanyetu told Nampa on Sunday . According to Kanyetu , the woman was on her way home when she came across the elephants that were on their way to drink water from the river at the village . She was allegedly then attacked and trampled to death by the elephants . The victim has been identified as Maria Moyo and her next of kin are informed of her death . Her body was transported to the Andara Catholic Hospital mortuary . Police investigations into the matter continue .Source: The Namibia Press Agency
