Katima Mulilo: Six officials from the Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism, who were arrested on charges of assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm, appeared in the Katima Mulilo District A-Court on Friday.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the officials - Clints Siswaniso Likando, Liberty Ntema Matali, Brian Mbanga Siyanga, Mwaxulange Nghilu Stefanus, Booysen Mulotu Sinvula, and Eric Matengu Muhinda - are accused of assaulting senior education officer, Elvis Liwakala, on 30 October 2024. The incident allegedly took place after Liwakala was found with four buffalo carcasses in a government vehicle and was detained by the six officials.
The officials were arrested on Thursday and presented before Magistrate Davy Kambinda. The court has remanded their case to 11 August 2025 to allow for further police investigations.
