Swakopmund:The Erongo Regional Education Directorate is seeking an estimated N$192 million investment to address increasing demands on educational infrastructure.

According to Namibia Press Agency , the proposal will be presented at the first Erongo Education Infrastructure Investment Conference in Swakopmund. This event aims to mobilize partnerships for sustainable educational infrastructure development in the region.

Acting Erongo Regional Director of Education, Helen Asino, noted that the conference is a result of recommendations from a June 2026 education conference and is focused on identifying infrastructure needs and potential investment partnerships. The region currently has 99 schools for 60,988 learners, with a rising population further straining existing facilities. Asino emphasized the need for at least four new schools annually, though this number could climb with future demand.

The N$192 million investment is intended to fund new schools, classrooms, sanitation facilities, ICT and science facilities, libraries, hostels, staff housing, and the rehabilitation of essential infrastructure. Contributions can vary and include co-financing, equipment, learning materials, expertise, or support for specific projects.

Erongo Chief Regional Officer, Sem Ntelamo, highlighted the need for increased collaboration between the government and private sector amid rapid urbanization. He encouraged stakeholders to explore practical solutions for advancing education infrastructure at the conference.
