FLM Ladies and Simonis Storm win WPP team time trials

Food Lovers Market ladies and Simonis Storm powered by the Hollard men’s team, were on Sunday crowned winners of the Nedbank Windhoek Pedal Power (WPP) Team Time Trials (TTT) after clocking better times than their opponents.

The fifth leg of the WPP Race Series held its Team Time Trials at Carin Park, 15 kilometres north of Windhoek on the B1 road.

The trials saw six women’s teams competing in that category, while eight teams competed in the men’s category.

The Food Lovers Market ladies team, consisting of Anri Krugel, Melissa Hinz, Hester Prins, Michelle Doman and Bertha Theron, won the women’s WPP TTT after crossing the line in a time of 48 minutes and 35 seconds (48:35), which was over two minutes ahead of the second placed team.

Mannie’s Bike Makers Ladies came second in a time of (50:50), while Hollard Ladies crossed the line in a time of (52:08) to take up the last podium position.

The highest step on the podium in the men’s category was taken by Simonis Storm powered by the Hollard men’s team, who completed the 33-kilometre route in a time of 40:51. Ingram Cuff, Martin Freyer, Gerhard Mans, Heiko Diehl and Horst Neumann are the riders who represented the team.

The second position in the men’s category went to the Cymot Racing Men’s Team, who were three minutes and 14 seconds behind the winners with a time of 43:37, while Cymot Vets Men took the third position with a time of 44:54.

The 2022 edition of the Nedbank Windhoek Pedal Power race series commenced in January at the Döbra Loops and continued to Dordabis, Matchless, Teufelsschlucht and Carin Park, and will conclude its race series on the Ovitoto road near Okahandja on Sunday.
