According to Namibia Press Agency, the late councillor served as the head of Otjombinde from 2009 to 2025 under the Swapo Party and continued his service as the secretary general of the Swapo Elders Council in Omaheke until his death. His brother, Mitiri Ngurimuje Marenga, informed that the remains of the former councillor left Windhoek in the early hours of Friday for Okatuuo village.

On its way to Okatuuo, the funeral procession made stops at the Swapo Party office in Gobabis and the Omaheke Regional Council, where mourners gathered to pay their respects. "My brother was a public figure and participated in many aspects of life, and thus we will honour him as such. We will make sure that everybody gets a chance to pay respect to Karii," said Marenga.

Afterward, the casket was taken to the Ovambanderu Traditional Council Commando at Gobabis, where it received a hero's welcome before heading to Otjombinde. In Otjombinde, the procession will visit the Swapo office and the constituency councillor's office, before moving to Eiseb Block to allow mourners to pay their respects at Okatumba Gate.

The procession will then proceed to Okatuuo settlement, where a memorial service will be held. Saturday is set aside for the official memorial program, during which various dignitaries are expected to pay their respects before the burial takes place on Sunday.
