Manila: Four people were killed in two separate residential fires that broke out Thursday morning in the Philippine capital, the Bureau of Fire Protection said.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the victims included a 55-year-old male, a 23-year-old female, and an 18-year-old female who sustained fatal burns in a fire that erupted shortly after 8 a.m. local time in a densely populated area of Marikina City.
Firefighters managed to bring the Marikina City blaze under control before 10 a.m. local time. The fire also left three residents injured and affected 60 villagers, as reported by the bureau.
In another incident, an 83-year-old female lost her life in a fire that engulfed a two-story house in Manila City around 9:15 a.m. local time on Thursday. The bureau reported that the Manila City fire impacted 21 residents.
