Windhoek: Chairperson of the Council of Traditional Leaders, Goab Immanuel |GaSseb, has issued a call to action for all eligible Namibian voters, urging them to participate "massively" in the forthcoming Regional Councils and Local Authorities elections.

According to Namibia Press Agency, |GaSseb emphasized the significance of the elections, describing them as "a vital tool for shaping the development trajectory of Namibian communities." He acknowledged the Namibian government's steadfast commitment to the Constitution, which is exemplified by the regular hosting of peaceful and credible elections. Such practices, he noted, underscore the maturity of Namibia's democracy.

|GaSseb articulated that the elections offer communities a crucial opportunity to either reaffirm their support for leaders who have effectively delivered on development promises or to demand change where leadership has fallen short. He highlighted the substantial impact of regional and local elections, particularly for rural communities, noting that elected councillors play a key role in advancing government initiatives that address essential issues such as water access, electricity provision, resettlement, grazing rights, education, and healthcare.

Emphasizing the importance of collaboration, |GaSseb stated that the future of rural development should not rest solely with traditional authorities. Instead, he called for a concerted effort among traditional leaders, regional councils, and local authorities to achieve sustainable and inclusive development. In his message to the youth, he encouraged young leaders to support President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah's reforms, which aim to ensure that all Namibians benefit from the country's natural wealth, regardless of background, tribe, or gender.

|GaSseb urged those disillusioned by slow development in their constituencies to remain engaged in the democratic process, stressing, "Your vote is your voice; use it to shape the future you deserve." He concluded by wishing the nation peaceful, transparent, and successful elections, urging citizens to reflect on the transformative power of the ballot.

The Regional Councils and Local Authorities Elections are slated for 26 November.
