Gobabis: The newly elected Mayor of Gobabis, Elwin Gariseb, has declared that the upcoming five years will be marked by purposeful leadership focused on addressing the needs of residents. Swapo councillor Gariseb, who was elected as the mayor last week, emphasized his commitment to transparency and public involvement in the municipal council's decision-making processes.

According to Namibia Press Agency, Gariseb, in a conversation with Nampa on Sunday, highlighted the council's intention to prioritize transparency by ensuring that the budget process and other decisions are open to public participation and scrutiny. He stressed the importance of fulfilling promises to the inhabitants of Gobabis, stating that the empowerment of youth, women, elders, and entrepreneurs is a primary objective for the council.

Gariseb assured that under his leadership, there would be no shortcuts or compromises on ethics, as trust is fundamental to progress. His agenda includes upgrading infrastructure to ensure reliable water, electricity, and roads, essential for the prosperity of households and businesses.

Moreover, the council aims to enhance the local economy by supporting agriculture, tourism, and small and medium enterprises to create jobs. Gariseb also underscored the importance of sustainable waste management, developing green spaces, and building resilience to climate change.

The mayor called on the residents of Gobabis to collaborate by making timely payments for municipal services, maintaining cleanliness, and reporting vandalism.
