Gobabis: Namport Omaheke Second Division Football League outfit Gobabis Sports Club extended its winning streak after defeating Omaheke SC 2-1 in a delayed match played at the Legare Stadium on Tuesday. Gobabis SC came from a goal down to beat defending champions Omaheke SC in the second half.According to Namibia Press Agency, Kauna Kanguatjivi gave Omaheke SC the lead early in the first half, but Uakuna Murangi struck twice in the second half to hand Gobabis SC victory. Team head coach Karee Hengari said the victory reflects the players' hard work, discipline, and commitment. "As newcomers in the league, we gave our all and our objective is clear, which is to remain in the league. The mood in the camp is positive and the spirit of togetherness is sweeping across the team," he said.Hengari added that the team's supporters have played an important role and their backing is appreciated. "They must keep coming to our games and play their part. We need you now and forever," he said. Speaking to Nampa after th e match, Murangi said he was delighted to score important goals against the defending champions. "It was not easy. They scored early and that put us under pressure, but we fought hard to come back late in the second half and seal the victory. I am happy that we remained consistent and maintained our winning streak," he said.He further credited his teammates for their fighting spirit and hunger for success. Gobabis SC tops the SSFD standings with 18 points from six matches, having won all its fixtures. Desert Rollers is second with 13 points from five matches, while Kom Haal Hulle FC is third with 10 points from six matches. Leonardville-based Golden Boys is bottom of the log with two points, while Kanaan United is in 10th position, also with two points from six matches.
