Gobabis: Gobabis Sport Club (SC) head coach Karee Hengari says his team gained valuable experience from participating in the NFA Cup despite their early exit from the country's premier cup competition. The Namport Omaheke Football Second Division side lost 2-1 to Walvis Bay-based Square Seven FC in the round of 32 in Windhoek last weekend.According to Namibia Press Agency, Hengari described the tournament as a valuable learning opportunity for his players, saying it exposed them to a different competitive environment. "This was a good learning curve for the boys and they showed determination from the onset of the competition," he said. Hengari added that the team demonstrated its strengths against quality opposition and managed to score early in the match. In addition to the team's performance on the field, Hengari praised the discipline and conduct displayed by his players throughout the tournament. "The players have now experienced cup football and will take positives from the tournament. Our future look s bright and we will now focus on the league matches as we are still on top of the log," he said. Hengari also applauded supporters who travelled from Gobabis to support the team during the match. "That was really motivating and we appreciate it a lot. Continue rallying behind the team because your support means a great deal," he added.Gobabis SC captain Jarurako Seun Uahupirapi also described the tournament as a positive experience for the team, particularly as it allowed them to compete outside Gobabis. "It was a great experience for us as we are the new kids on the block. We came from the third division with a mission and participating in elite cup competitions like this exposes us to different levels of play. We played well despite the defeat," he said. Uahupirapi said Square Seven FC's tactical adjustments in the second half played a key role in the outcome of the match. "Square Seven FC changed their approach in the second half and scored two goals. But we learned from the match and we will now focus on the league," he added.
