Windhoek: Retired footballer and employee of the Office of the Prime Minister, Silvester Lolo Goraseb, has called on newly appointed Prime Minister Elijah Ngurare to address critical issues within the Public Service Commission and public service management offices. Speaking to the media, Goraseb expressed concern about the structural independence and integrity of Namibia's public service management.According to Namibia Press Agency, Goraseb noted that the Public Service Commission currently falls under the Office of the Prime Minister, which he believes compromises its independence. He suggested that it should instead be an independent structure handling public service and management issues. Goraseb further alleged that the record system at the Office of the Prime Minister is in disarray, with documents left unattended in office corridors.Goraseb stated that these concerns have been raised on numerous platforms, including writing to the Prime Minister twice for an audience and intervention, and discussing the issues during a former Prime Minister's staff meeting. He emphasized the need to review public service reform initiatives.In response, the Office of the Prime Minister issued a media statement, denying Goraseb's claims as 'false, unfounded, and malicious.' The statement asserted the office's commitment to the wellbeing of its staff, supported by values of accountability, integrity, accessibility, transparency, and responsiveness.
