WINDHOEK: The Namibian Government is closely monitoring the ongoing riots and disturbances in numerous United Kingdom (UK) cities, Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Peya Mushelenga has said.Mushelenga stated on Thursday that anti-immigrant rioters had looted, set fires, and clashed with police in places such as London, Birmingham, Liverpool, Sunderland, Manchester, Hull, and Bristol.'We advise all Namibian citizens currently in the UK and those planning to travel to the UK, to exercise extreme caution and avoid areas where protests and riots are taking place,' he said.He urged Namibians living in the impacted cities to stay indoors and avoid going out unless absolutely necessary. They should also stay away from big crowds and demonstrations.'Always remain cautious and aware of your surroundings. Monitor local media for the most up-to-date information, and follow local authorities' and police's directions,' Mushelenga said further while listing some precautionary measures.He said t he Namibian Government has been collaborating with UK authorities to safeguard the safety and well-being of Namibians, as well as to assist those who may be affected.'Riots will always be present. We simply need to take the necessary precautions, stay careful, and cooperate to remain secure.
