A 33-year-old woman was arrested on Saturday for alleged possession of 161 mandrax tablets at her residence in the Umulunga township at Grootfontein.

Namibian Police Force (NamPol) spokesperson in the Otjozondjupa Region, Inspector Maureen Mbeha, in an interview with Nampa on Wednesday said Pauluna Haingura was arrested after the police received a tip-off from community members about her alleged drug dealing activities.

“Upon searching her house, 161 mandrax tablets were found along with cannabis weighing 10 grams, with a combined estimated value of N.dollars 115 000,” said Mbeha.

Haingura is charged with possession and/or dealing in drugs, said the police officer.

She made her first court appearance on Monday in the Grootfontein Magistrate’s Court, where she was released on bail of N.dollars 800. She is expected to appear in court again on 08 September 2022.

Police investigations into the matter continue.
