Outjo: Hai//Om San traditional leader, Chief Dawid //Khamuxab, died on Tuesday afternoon at the Outjo District Hospital after a long illness. His passing marks the end of a significant era for the Hai//Om San community.
According to Namibia Press Agency, his nephew, Leon Aib, confirmed //Khamuxab's death to Nampa on Wednesday afternoon. The 75-year-old chief was a prominent leader for the Hai//Om San people across various regions, including Outjo, Oshivelo, Grootfontein, Otjiwarongo, Etosha, Verda, Toevlug, Nuchas, and the Kotties government resettlement farms.
Aib noted that Chief //Khamuxab's traditional headquarters had been based at Seringkop Government Resettlement Farm, north of Outjo, since his installation and government recognition in 2004. Under his leadership, he served more than 20,000 Hai//Om San individuals, providing guidance and support to the community.
The late chief is survived by his three daughters and two sons. Funeral arrangements are expected to be officially announced next week.
