Windhoek: Anes Secondary School has retained its Junior Secondary Phase title while Mariental Secondary School emerged victorious in the Senior Secondary Phase of the Hardap Regional Commerce Quiz. The annual competition, hosted by the Hardap Directorate of Education in Mariental, was introduced in 2025 and is held annually to strengthen learners' knowledge and understanding of the commerce subject area.

According to Namibia Press Agency, in the Junior Secondary Phase, /Anes Secondary School took first place, followed by C //Oaseb Secondary School in second and Rehoboth High School in third. In the Senior Secondary Phase, Mariental Secondary School emerged as the winner, with PI Groenewald Secondary School finishing second and Dr Lemmer High School taking third place. PI Groenewald, which won the senior secondary category last year, finished in second position this year.

Eleven schools participated in the regional competition, with six competing in the Junior Secondary Phase. The participating schools were Mariental Secondary School, PI Groenewald Secondary School, Rooiduin Senior Secondary School, Danie Joubert Combined School, C //Oaseb Secondary School, Daweb Secondary School, WJD Cloete Combined School, Dr Lemmer High School, Rehoboth High School, M and K Gertze High School and /Anes Secondary School.

FNB Namibia was the main sponsor of the competition and provided prizes and learning materials, including 16 school bags, eight scientific calculators and eight stationery packs. Senior Education Officer of Commerce, Hanhote Ndinomolo expressed appreciation on behalf of the directorate to FNB Namibia for its contribution, saying the support helped ensure that deserving learners received meaningful prizes. 'We appreciate FNB so, so much for coming through and assisting us because if they were not there, honestly, we would struggle to give out prizes to our learners,' he said.

He said the sponsorship also demonstrates the role of stakeholders in supporting education and contributing to the development of Namibian learners. All participating learners and coaches received certificates, while winners received medals and prizes, including vouchers.
