Hanoi:Hardap The Hardap Regional Council is urging increased participation, especially from young people, in its decentralisation information-sharing programme. This initiative is coordinated by the Ministry of Urban and Rural Development and was conducted across all eight constituencies in the region from 21 September to 01 October 2026.
According to Namibia Press Agency, Acting Director for Regional Development Integration at the Hardap Regional Council, Axab Skrywer, emphasized the programme's goal of informing communities about the services provided through various delegated functions. The sessions allowed residents to learn about available government services and interact with officials responsible for service delivery.
Skrywer noted a significant challenge was the low attendance, particularly among youth, during these sessions. He encouraged residents to participate in the programme when it resumes next year, stressing the importance of engaging with the delegated functions to understand the services rendered to their communities.
Concerns raised during the engagements will be compiled into a report for the regional council, aiding councillors in understanding community challenges and making informed decisions on service delivery. The council plans to enhance its communication strategies to boost future participation, considering additional platforms such as church announcements and public address systems to reach more residents.
Skrywer highlighted that effective information-sharing and community involvement are crucial for achieving the decentralisation programme's objectives.
