National Assembly (AN) Speaker Carolina Cerqueira Wednesday in Lubango, Huila, defended more investment in Tundavala project, aimed to turn the area into a real tourist destination.

This was during her visit to Tundavala project, along with her South Sudan’s counterpart, Jemma Kumba.

This is a project to promote tourism in the area, valued at US$50 million.

The project foresees the construction of a cable car, a 25-metre glass elevator, restaurant, cafés, camping site, toll booth, among other infrastructures, to attract more travelers, both national and foreigners to Huíla province.

Carolina Cerqueira stressed the beauty of Tundavala, adding that it should be better used to generate revenue for the province, for which tourist developments, such as restaurants, hotels and similar and profitable structures, are necessary.

Her counterpart of South Sudan, on the other hand, considered Tundavala as an important resource for the province, so it should be used in the best way.

Jemma Kumba is also Chair of the Forum of Parliaments of Member States of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (FP-ICGLR).

Tundavala is located 20 kilometers west of Lubango, capital of Huila province.
