Namibian super featherweight boxer, Jeremiah ‘Lowkey’ Nakathila, says he will destroy his American opponent Shakur Stevenson when the two meet for the World Boxing Organisation (WBO) Interim Title on 12 July in Las Vegas.

He was speaking at his official send-off by his main sponsors MTC and his boxing stable MTC Sunshine Boxing and Fitness Academy in Windhoek on Wednesday, where he said he is in his prime and destined to shine.

“I am ready for Shakur Stevenson. I am going to destroy him. It is time for Namibia and Africa to shine. We had a great camp. I am grateful for the opportunity which came at the right time. I will not let it pass,” Nakathila said.

Nakathila has been in camp for the past two months, in which he was working with his team of coaches Nicky Natangwe and Siegfried “SBK” Kaperu.

He also sparred with Jeff Magagane from South Africa, Jonas Matheus, Charles Shinima, and Martin Mukungu.

When asked about his opponent, who is well respected in boxing circles and has been receiving rave reviews from the American press in the lead up to the fight, Nakathila said all those who are talking good things about Stevenson will not be in the ring to protect him during the fight.

His main sparring partner, Magagane, said Nakathila was in top shape and will definitely go to the USA to win.

Speaking at the same event, promoter Nestor Tobias said everything is in place and the team will leave on Friday.

Nakathila will face Stevenson in Las Vegas on 12 June, with the winner expected to fight the current champion, Jamel Herring of the United States of America.
