Buenos aires: Independiente secured its first win of the Clausura campaign with a 3-0 home victory over Platense in Argentina's Primera Division on Friday. Gabriel Avalos put the hosts ahead by prodding the ball into the back of the net after a scramble inside the six-yard box.

According to Namibia Press Agency, Independiente doubled its lead when Felipe Loyola combined with Santiago Montiel before sending a looping header past goalkeeper Federico Losas. Lautaro Millan completed the rout a minute from time, running onto Ivan Marcone's perfectly weighted pass and finishing clinically into the far corner.

Independiente remains last in the 15-team Group B with nine points, two behind Platense, which is 13th.
