Beijing: A Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson emphasized the need for the international community to remain vigilant against any attempts to revive militarism, following remarks by Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi concerning Taiwan.
According to Namibia Press Agency, analysts highlighted that Takaichi is the first Japanese prime minister to describe a "Taiwan contingency" as a potential "survival-threatening situation" for Japan. This stance could lead Japan to invoke its right to collective self-defense, potentially involving military action in the Taiwan Strait.
Spokesperson Mao Ning addressed the media, stating that historically, Japan has used the notion of a "survival-threatening situation" and "self-defense" as a pretext for military aggression. Mao emphasized that on the 80th anniversary of the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, it is crucial for the international community to prevent any resurgence of militarism and to protect the post-war international order and global peace.
