Dr. Samuel Ben Owusu, Country Director of the International Association of World Peace Advocates (IAWPA), has advised the government of Ghana to prioritize investments in peace sustainability, emphasizing that it is a critical component of national development.Speaking at the National Peace Council and Prophets for Peaceful Elections 2024 dialogue, Dr. Owusu expressed surprise at the under-resourcing of the National Peace Council, despite its crucial role in maintaining peace."If the government is interested in peace, then it must invest in it. Peace sustainability is expensive, and it needs funds to sustain it," he stressed.The dialogue, held on August 27, 2024, brought together esteemed leaders, including Rev. Dr. Ernest Adu-Gyamfi, Chairman of the Peace Council; His Eminent, Archbishop Nicholas Duncan Williams; Bishop Emmanuel Fianu; and Apostle Prof. Opoku Onyinah.Dr. Owusu highlighted the importance of allocating resources to support peace initiatives, conflict resolution programs, and community engagement activities.He emphasized that peace sustainability requires a long-term commitment and investment to ensure a stable and secure environment for national growth.The participants agreed that peace sustainability is a shared responsibility and pledged to work together to ensure peaceful elections in 2024.Rev.
