Kunene: The Independent Patriots for Change (IPC) has confirmed its candidates for the seven constituencies and four local authorities in the Kunene Region for the 26 November Regional Council and Local Authorities Elections. Petrus Shikalepo, chairperson of IPC in the Kunene Region, confirmed the candidates to Nampa on Friday, stating that the party is well-prepared for the upcoming elections and wants to strengthen its presence in the northern regions.
According to Namibia Press Agency, Shikalepo emphasized that the IPC's candidates are natives of the region and understand its needs. The party is actively engaging with residents through door-to-door campaigns, encouraging them to vote for IPC candidates who aim to bring positive changes to the region. Shikalepo outlined the party's plans to eliminate poverty by leveraging the region's fertile soil and natural water resources for gardening and improving road infrastructure.
He asserted that IPC governance would focus on fulfilling agricultural needs and creating a market for livestock products. Shikalepo criticized the current regional leadership for not making significant efforts to improve residents' livelihoods, claiming that IPC is the only party capable of instigating the necessary changes in Kunene.
Shikalepo expressed confidence in the residents' desire for change, stating, "Residents clearly want change, and that is the goal of the IPC party. I am very confident that they will vote for IPC candidates who will transform their situation to excellence."
The IPC candidates include Uatendisa Tjiumbua for Epupa, Danster Defnie for Kamanjab, Leonard !Hoaeb for Khorixas, Kakunejaju Nderura for Opuwo Rural, Mauiipi Mouch Hartley for Opuwo Urban, and Marten !Aebeb for the Outjo constituencies. The local authorities' candidates include Maleagi Somaeb, Roswitha Tjinyama, Festus Ampundja, Maclean Awaras, and Feliseti Gorabes vying for seats in the Kamanjab Village Council.
A competitive race is anticipated for the Khorixas local authority, with candidates Renathe Roman, Ngatunuevi Matundu, Bernatitus Uiseb, Sharon Hoaes, Jogonias Kasaona, Ingrieth Awises, and Aina Nekongo. For the Opuwo local authority, IPC will be represented by Hanganeni Tjizembisa, Ritenisa Tjaveondja, Kaitirovandu Tjiveze, Stendly Katjau, Messias Amutenya, Patricia Silas, and Helena Shikololo.
Additionally, the Outjo municipal election will feature notable IPC candidates such as Maria Horoses, Maria Heita, Paulina Shihwandu, Eliazer Indongo, Siegfried Mate, Ngavireze Undari, Pius Ithindi, and Eliazer Indongo.
