Baghdad: The Iraqi government has scheduled parliamentary elections for November 11, the Iraqi News Agency (INA) reported on Wednesday, following a cabinet vote.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the Iraqi council of representatives, or the parliament, is elected for a term of four years and consists of 329 seats. The lawmakers are entitled to elect the country's president and prime minister.
The last parliamentary election in Iraq was held in October 2021. It was originally due to be held in 2022, but was brought forward because of large-scale anti-corruption protests in the country, which began in 2019 and lasted for three years.
