KBA season kicks off

The Khomas Basketball Association (KBA) 2022 season will kick off on Thursday with eight Premier Division League teams, nine first division teams and seven ladies teams.

KBA president Helena Uugwanga confirmed to Nampa on Thursday that all preparations are going well.

She said all the matches in the 2022 season will take place at the University of Namibia (UNAM) Gym Hall, but there are plans to secure alternative venues.

At the time of going to press, most teams had secured their playing personnel for the upcoming season.

According to the final updated fixtures list made available to Nampa, the teams will compete in their respective divisions to determine the top four teams who will then proceed to the playoffs.

The playoff games will be played as best of three for the semi-finals and best of five for the finals.

The first game of the season will see Afro Stars facing Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST) Gladiators followed by a premier league clash between University of Namibia (UNAM) Wolves and Titans at the UNAM Gym Hall.

On Friday two matches are scheduled between UNAM Raiders and Plaza Warriors in the first division and TBA Blackswords versus UNAM Rebels in the premier league.

On Saturday, Tsumeb Titans will play NUST Blues in the premier league, while TBA Ironswords will face Lions BC and Quality Basketball Club versus Team Allies in the first division.

In the women’s section, NUST Dodgers face TBA Silverswords while UNAM Cats will play Quality Basketball Club.

On Sunday, Legends will face UNAM Cats, while UNAM Phoenix will play UNAM Sparks in the women’s league.

In the men’s first division, NUST Gladiators will play UNAM Pacers Penguins before the Titans face Quality Basketball Club in the men’s premier league.
