The deputy minister also revealed that as of 01 November, the region has recorded 7 881 positive COVID-19 cases, of which 193 are health care workers. A total of 191 people had succumbed to the virus.

“This region is known for its tourist attractions such as the Ai-Ais Springs, Fish River Canyon and Diaz Point among others. These are attractions that provide employment to our communities and bring in local and international tourism, thus boosting the country’s Gross Domestic Product and improving our overall livelihood,” Jagger said, adding that the sooner the vaccination target is met, the sooner the objectives can be met.

The deputy minister said Namibia has set itself a target to reach 60 per cent total population immunisation by March 2022, adding that based on the current pace, the country faces a huge task and challenge.

“As patriotic Namibians, we should be innately drawn to answer to the clarion call of getting vaccinated against COVID-19,” she stated.
